I spent three wonderful weeks at Stevenson Elementary School in Decatur, IL. I was in a Kindergarten classroom and while I was there implemented lessons and interacted with all of the students. I certainly learned a lot about myself as a teacher during those three weeks. If you would like to learn more information about the school and get their contact information here is a link that will allow you to do so:Stevenson Elementary School.
Teacher Statement:
I truly believe that all students can learn when given the opportunity to excel. Saying that, I also believe in setting high expectations for students. When high expectations are set, in my experience, students will meet those expectations and sometimes exceed them. I think it is importance for students to ask questions, and I encourage them to ask any questions they may have. After all, learning stems from curiosity and inquiry!
Parent Involvement:
Parent involvement is essential for student/teacher growth. We love when parents come visit the classroom because it is exciting for the students as well as the teacher! We love to hear different ideas and perspectives, so feel to share! The students also feel really special when another adult comes in to spend time with them.
